Clenching, Grinding, Cracked Teeth, Sleeplessness, Headaches, TMJ, damage to Expensive Dental Work, all caused by Bruxism.

Bruxism is a Medical Term applied to the Clenching and/or Grinding of Teeth. It is estimated that 20-40% of the Population Clenches or Grinds their Teeth from Time to Time. The Most Severe Bruxers Clench or Grind their Teeth on a Daily Basis and, in some Instances Clench or Grind, Morning Noon and Night.

Most Bruxers Deny that they Clench or Grind. A Self Examination, although not as Detailed or Effective as an Exam by a Dentist, can Sometimes Reveal if a Person is a Bruxer. Normal Teeth have Various Shapes. For instance, “Eye Teeth” also referred to as “Canines” should have a “Chiseled” Shape. If the Teeth are “Even” (or beginning to become Even in shape), Flattened, or Beginning to become Flattened, It is a sure Sign that the Person Clenches or Grinds. It will only be a Matter of Time before Damage to other Teeth Begins to Occur.

Human Jaw Muscles are capable of Exerting Tremendous Pressure. For Example, when we Eat, the Average Person Exerts Approximately 160-170 Pounds Per Square Inch (PSI) of Pressure While Chewing. When Teeth are Clenched During the Day the Amount of Pressure can easily Exceed 300 PSI. When we are Sleeping and Begin to Clench or Grind, the Muscle and Jaw can Exert Pressure that exceeds 800 PSI. That Tremendous amount of Pressure will Eventually Wear down, crack, and Destroy Teeth.
